The Privilege of Performing.

Imagine being excited to show off everything you have learned but also being so, incredibly nervous at the same time! Performing is such a joy for the dancers and their families as well as others in attendance. There is a joy that each and every dancer has on performance day. But, as a dancer, most are very nervous because they want everything to be perfect! There are multiple benefits to performing.

While on stage, dancers get to demonstrate the knowledge learned and personal growth from year to year. This helps each performer feel that their work through the year has been worth it. There is something that feel so amazing to be on that stage being the best you can be. Performing on stage also helps to show the comradery and moral of classes. Teamwork is such an important thing for all organized sports/activities. Dance really helps to build respect for those around you, with that, comes teamwork! Each student is so supportive of the next. As an instructor, it is so fun to watch each class get ready back stage and cheering on the class that is performing next. The love and support each student has for the others is astounding.

Let’s talk self esteem. The rush a dancer gets after a performance is over, and the audience applauds, is something many people don’t get to experience. You just danced your heart out, left it all on the stage and everyone felt that performance. It doesn’t matter if it’s a group performance or a solo performance. The feeling is nearly the same. The work that goes in to making each dance the best it can be is a long process. To finally show what you have worked so hard for is very rewarding.

Once the work has been put in, and the rehearsals have been a success, it’s time to show families what these dancers have been working so hard for. A performance is a chance for family and friends to support and experience the professionalism of a live event. Most likely these dancers have been practicing for 5-6 months straight, learning and perfecting choreography. Once the choreography is learned, a dancer then goes through multiple rehearsals to make sure the dances are stage ready. Along with the choreography and practices, comes staging and the details of making a performance stand out from all the others. At Paquita Dance Center we work with Relevant Audio + Visual to master the quality of each and every performance.

The ability we have of combining all performance aspects gives the dancers a professional performance experience. There are many dancers that perform in more than one genre of dance in every performance. Our dancers have the opportunity to perform in ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and partnering! The students also get to see the hard work it takes of setting the stage and making sure everything is in its place. We believe that performing is such an important aspect of being a dancer. It builds character, teamwork, confidence and lets you demonstrate so many things that you have learned.
